Twomey cellars was established in 1999 by the Duncan family, and the family had learned about farming vineyards and making wine. Twomey was named after Ray Duncan’s mother, Velma Marie Twomey. To commemorate his wonderful mother, this new wine label was inspired by an image of angel’s wings flying up to heaven as a tribute to Twomey’s passing away. The calligraphic style represented the winding and organicity of the vines. A medium dark orange evoked a warm feeling in Napa Valley and created a fresh and healthy look to stimulate the appetite. Moreover, it combined well with a metal gun color that could give a metallic effect as well as deliver a high-end attribute. This new design portrayed both respect and serenity toward the family’s history and the owner’s mother.
